how will I know?

Someone said 'life is for the taking'
Here I am with my hand out waiting for a ride
I've been living on my great expectations
What good is it when I'm stranded here
And the world just passess by?

Where are the signs to help me get out of this place?

If I should stumble on my moment in time, how will I know?
If the story's written on my face, does it show?
Am I strong enough to walk on water?
Smart enough to come in out of the rain?
Or am I a fool, going where the wind blows?

Here I sit halfway to somewhere
Thinking about what's in front of me and what I left behind
On my own, supposed to be so easy
Is this what I've been after,
Or have I lost my mind?

Maybe this is my chance coming to take me away

If I should stumble on my moment in time, how will I know?
If the story's written on my face, does it show?
Am I strong enough to walk on water?
Smart enough to come in out of the rain?
Or am I a fool, going where the wind blows?

Here I am walking naked through the world
Taking up space, society's child
Make room for me, make room for me, make room for me

Am I strong enough to walk on water?
Smart enough to come in out of the rain?
Or am I a fool,
Going where the wind blows
Going where the wind blows
Going where the wind blows
Going where the wind blows?

L's Song

I don't know who "L" is in this case, and I don't want to. Because we all have our "L".

I love your nervous fingers
Won't you fumble all night long
Let the morning air sting us
To rise and stumble on
Down the crooked pavements
The wind rolls my thoughts like a leaf
The brittle bell chimes
And fortune smiles, with its broken teeth

And the many rivered land
Grateful for the rain
I'd be grateful for one morsel
Of your loving again

Summer, restless summer
Won't let sleeping dogs lie
Your barbed voice
Re-awakens time gone by
Hound's face, fine bowl
Harsh land, dry stone
Thunder's muttered promise
Impatient gull on the scented wind
Your gray eyes star a little ray
Nearly upon us

And the many rivered land
Grateful for the rain
I'd be grateful for one morsel
Of your loving again

And the many rivered land
Grateful for the rain
I'd be grateful for one morsel
I'd be grateful for one morsel
I'd be grateful for one morsel
Of your loving again
Oh, oh
Oh, oh...

Radio ga-ga

firstly - http://www.lyricsdownload.com/queen-radio-gaga-lyrics.html

and 'for them wot stream' - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/rockshow/ - great show!

But the main point of this entry:

Radio Rock Recipe
(makes 2-4 hours of good music)

  1. Find a radio rock show with something you want to listen to - band / feature etc
  2. Go to bed early(ish) - back in the day it was 'past my bedtime' when rock shows were on, from 12-3ish I think
  3. Place a tape (yay for low fi!) in your radio cassette deck
  4. Turn your radio on and your volume down (so you can sleep) or leave headphones in the jack socket. This works because the recording volume is a constant and the output volume is the variable.
  5. Sweet dreams!
  6. Oi, I said go to sleep! Don't spoil it for the morning. Ok, so maybe you'll fall asleep having a sneaky listen.
  7. zzz
  8. zzz
  9. Morning! Check out your kick-ass rock tape, with new bands, interviews, adverts in the middle and the best bits cut off the end of the tape. Instant teenage low-tech musical masturbation ready while you sleep!
  10. Posing on the bus to school optional (tastes better).

8 minutes

Danestone. 8 mins,
the timer says.
Maybe you'll come
and visit some time.
Did I have a good day?
And you?
The doors open with
a hydraulic hiss.
We hug.
But I didn't see you
take your seat
as I watched for you,
and you pulled away
down the road
to home.
