Nowhere Man
The difference between nowhere and everywhere is one best left to language philosophers. Everywhere could become anywhere. Living in Scotland and traveling has changed my ideas of home. Scotland isn't home, but I can't live with the borders of England and all its baggage either. It was nice, in a concerned way, to hear that she has issues with 'home' too. Apparently, a lot of great writers and thinkers have conflicted relationships with where they were brought up. Anyway. This song makes nowhere somewhere. Somewhere I want to be. It's a state of mind; security and happiness and belonging that can't (always) be pinned to geographical location.
I don't find this song sad - it makes finding somewhere special just as important, only it's a state of being. With her in mind.
I’m in, and I’m out
Alien - from somewhere else
Don’t know what the hell
I be on about, but
From here and there
I belong
Nowhere
Seem so many know the name now
Now things don’t seem to be the same
But are somehow
'Cause all my life I lived on the
Outside
And now I’m in, but in nowhere
Nowhere Man
Strangely enough I’m more
Like lone trees
I love those forests
But alone better suits me but
But I love to share just like the pollen loves to be free
And flying through the air
Nowhere better suits me
Somewhere down deep inside of me
I guess I always wanted to
Be part of that 'we'
And now I found that in my
Family
And now I’m happy just to be
Nowhere Man
Nowhere Man

I guess the important thing is to belong somewhere, even if its with "family" and not a physical location.
